The following criteria are to be taken into account in the classification of automobile windows:
Subheading 8708.22 covers the following articles suitable for use solely or principally with motor vehicles of headings 87.01 to 87.05:
(a ) front windscreens (windshields), rear windows and other windows, framed; and
(b) front windscreens (windshields), rear windows and other windows, whether or not framed, incorporating heating devices or other electrical or electronic devices
subheading 8708.29 covers windows that are not framed, does not contain ceramic frits, does not contain heating appliances or other electrical or electronic devices, and are not tempered (toughened) or laminated.
Subheading 7007.11 covers tempered (toughened) automotive windows, not framed, does not contain ceramic frits, not containing heating or other electrical or electronic devices
Subheading 7007.21 covers laminated automotive windows, not framed, does not contain ceramic frits, not incorporating heating or other electrical or electronic devices
Note: Ceramic frit application is an important process that turns automotive glass into a part of a car. It plays an important role in bonding the glass to the frame and also provides UV protection and some sun shading. This type of windows are also classified in heading 8708.22.
