## Common ground
Both options refer to specially tempered glassware made primarily of glass, differing only in material composition.
## Options at a glance
**7013.10 – Made of glass**
- **Defining trait:** Includes all types of glass, including glass ceramics and lead crystal.
- **Typical examples:** Tempered glass with lead content, borosilicate glassware, glass-ceramic cookware.
- **Best fit when:** The product contains lead crystal or glass-ceramic materials, regardless of standard soda-lime composition.
**7013.4X – Made of glass other than glass ceramics and lead crystal**
- **Defining trait:** Excludes glass ceramics and lead crystal; applies to standard soda-lime or borosilicate glass without those additives.
- **Typical examples:** Tempered window glass, automotive glass, standard lab glassware.
- **Best fit when:** The glass is not lead-based and does not contain crystalline phases (e.g., no glass-ceramic structure).
## Key differences
| Feature | 7013.10 – Made of glass | 7013.4X – Other than glass ceramics & lead crystal |
|-----------------------|----------------------------------|-----------------------------------------------------|
| Includes lead crystal | Yes | No |
| Includes glass-ceramic| Yes | No |
| Standard soda-lime | Yes | Yes |
## How to choose
- Is the glass made with lead crystal? → 7013.10
- Does it contain glass-ceramic material (e.g., heat-resistant, crystalline structure)? → 7013.10
- Is it standard tempered soda-lime or borosilicate glass without additives? → 7013.4X
## Overlaps & pitfalls
A product may qualify for both if it’s made of glass but not lead crystal or glass-ceramic—then 7013.4X applies. If it contains lead or glass-ceramic, only 7013.10 fits. The key is material composition: **lead crystal and glass-ceramics are excluded from 7013.4X**. If unsure, prioritize the product’s main material over minor additives
