Zij hebben geen gietkop en het oppervlak is ruw en onregelmatig vanwege scheurtjes, krimpholtes en barsten. De chemische samenstelling van de legeringen varieert binnen de volgende bandbreedtes: - chroom 13-17%; - nikkel 8-13%; - koper 0,5%; - ijzer 75%.
