Jedná se o čistý produkt, který vzniká vermikompostováním biomasy (biologicky rozložitelného odpadu - listí, trávy, ovoce, zeleniny atd.) pomocí kanadských žížal (čisté výměšky žížal). Je to proces biooxidace a stabilizace organického materiálu. Žížaly pozřou kompostovaný materiál a ten projde jejich trávícím traktem, kde jsou přeměněny organické látky v exkrementy. Biohumus má po vysušení vzhled jemné lesní půdy. Je bez zápachu. I přesto, že neobsahuje žádné minerální částice, jeho předností je značná vodní kapacita a četné množství mikroorganismů, jež kladně ovlivňují růst rostlin a mladých stromků. Použití biohumusu je vhodné pro pěstování BIO potravin. Mimo jiné obsahuje vysoký podíl přírodních enzymů, huminových kyselin a růstových regulátorů (např. auxinů, giberelinů, cytokininů a dalších).
